Default $150 Best Buy gift card...

Hello all,

Which blus do you think I should pick up? I was thinking about getting the rest of the Bond films that I'm missing from the Ultimate DVD collector sets that came out 2 years ago. But something in the back of my mind is holding me back and I think deep down it's because I really want to expand my blu collection.

I'm into sci-fi, action-adventure, drama and comedy. I was thinking about getting Blade Runner, Planet of the Apes and Robocop. I know Robocop supposedly doesn't have the best transfer but I haven't heard anything on a reissue so I'm thinking of picking it up.

$150 is a good chunk of change for getting some BD's.

Any other suggestions/opinions?

I already have:

Superman: The Movie
Twilight Zone: The Movie
Batman Begins
Indy 4
Signs
There Will Be Blood
No Country for Old Men
Rambo
I Am Legend
Cloverfield
Spider-Man 3
2001: A Space Odyssey
Road Warrior
Iron Man
Live Free or Die Hard

And five I got free:

Stealth
Blazing Saddles
Pearl Harbor
Transporter 2
Deja Vu

Just looking for some thoughts.

dont get anything warner bros....u can order from the warner website using either the 25% or 30% off code and get them so much cheaper then best buy, so I wouldnt use the gift card on those....stay away from SPiderMan3 unless ur gonna buy the trilogy, u can buy Spidey 3 from ebay for like 7-10 bucks sealed and new, when they packed them in PS3s the value dropped on that one....I would go with Disney Titles or Universal.....

I highly recommend 'Apocalypto', 'The Prestige', and 'The Nightmare Before Christmas.'

There are a ton of great ones and more coming in the days and weeks ahead.

LOL no I promise I'm not bragging. Honestly, it's amazing how much money some of my fellow Blu-lovers here spend on BDs. I just finally feel like I have any opportunity to spend like some of you guys

I appreciate all the suggestions so far. Definitely thinking of getting Planet of the Apes but probably not the whole set. The only one I've ever really seen is the original.

Any opinions on the Robocop blu? Love the movie but hesitant because of some of the reviews/comments on the transfer.

I strongly advise you to use your gift card wisely. Buy movies that you'll watch more than twice. Use it in seperate time periods to get the best movies in the next year or so.

Screw the reviews! I use to own Robocop on BD. I'd say its pretty damn good transfer for a movie of its time. Remember, its the unrated version so you'll see some unfamiliar scenes.

Best advice on the board.

I'd look at holiday favorites since people generally watch them every year and then I'd look at personal faves and check the reviews on which have the best transfer. ENJOY!

NONSENSE!!!!

Buying movies based solely (or mostly) due to the quality of the transfer is ridiculous.....

I'd get (if it were me) many of the great titles at BB on sale that you don't already own, Like A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Bullitt, Adventures of Robin Hood, Reds, etc....

i know this is kinda off topic, but this is for those of you using a PS3 and it relates to the quote above...

i just used an offer in our sunday paper that is worth a look. i didnt have the actual BD remote for my PS3 and i got it for free. if youre sick of using the PS3 controllers, it is definitely worth it. there are a bunch of titles on sale for $19.99 (including the ones mentioned above). if you buy two of the 19.99 BD on the same receipt, then you get the PS3 BD remote for free which is normally $24.99. i bought Troy and The Brave One, so i saved about 40 bucks!

because I lost my job at the time and forced to sell everything except my HDTV (which is sacred). Currently, I'm employed and trying to recover everything from that tragic loss.
