Default Blu-ray Games

Does anyone know if the next gaming systems will use the blu-ray technology?

I think that's a valid question. Will the next generation of systems use blu-ray across all companies like the DVD format was (Will Microsoft incorporate it? Will Nintendo?). Will hard copies of games become more and more obsolete where digital distribution is making a lot of headway? (i.e. Burnout Paradise).

I honestly have no answer to it...it will be interesting to see what's included five to ten years from now.

I would believe Blu-ray discs or Flash Drive...I would see Nintendo going the Flash Drive route...They have always liked cartridge based hardware...

If they've sold enough download copies of games like Burnout Paradise and Gran Turismo 5P, then they'll probably be seriously thinking about doing away with discs and just stick a mahoosive HDD in the console. But Sony consoles seem to be more do-everything machines so I would think they'll keep the blu-ray drive so people can still watch their dvd's and blu's. I can't see Nintendo or Micro$hit sticking with discs if and when they decide to bring out their next effort. Not that I'll be buying either because I will never buy anything from Micro$hit again and my Wii has been gathering dust for months.

I think this is the same debate as the movie download one.Games are gonna continue to advance and the good ones will require more storage.Next gen I expect games that are over 100gb.Games like that still won't be practicle for download and by then blu-rays will probably be able to hold a terabyte of info heck they have prototypes of ones that can hold up to 500gb now.So I think blu-ray will continue as the format of choice next gen at least for Sony.

I would too...but, even on my connection, a 600MB demo takes a couple hours to download...and this is where the problem lies...they need the IP's to become faster and broader for this to ever take off...its the same story for downloadable movies...shoot MGS4 filled a 50GB disc...that would get a big "no thank you" from me.

Burnout Paradise is only 3 gigs, most games aren't over 5.

How fast is your connection? I live in a rural area and my connection is 3 megabits.

that is now but who is to say in a few years ?
I think that Blu will still have a shot at the next generation if for no other reason, for its storage capacities.

Only because of their crappy hardware limitation and additional licensing expenses in adding additional discs.
