Frustrating story that has a good ending
![]() I placed an order with Amazon this past Sunday night for a Sammy lcd tv. Tonight while browsing the hot deal forum, I saw that Amazon started a promotion today for "Buy a Samsung tv and get the Samsung bd 1500 Blu Ray player 200 bucks off" (Considering this player is selling at 203.95) ... I saw that this applied to the same tv I bought on Sunday.. .... knowing that I just ordered this tv 3 days ago, I called Amazon to see if they would honor this promotion. 1st call "I can't help you, but our marketing and promotion department might be able to, I sent a request for them to contact you" This didn't sit well with me, so I called back 2nd call "Absolutely not", since you did not order this while the promotion was going on, you don't qualify"........... So I say whats the point, I'll cancel/refuse shipment, and re order...? That's exactly what they recommended!!!!! ????? I think it through and decide I'll refuse shipment and place a new order......So I go to the Amazon.com,go to reorder it, and when I add both items to cart, the discount doesn't apply to the order...So I gave up.. layed down...tossed and turned, decided to call back again. Now im pissed...... 3rd call "I understand, how about I give you a 200 buck credit off the player" LOL so while on the phone with amazon CS, I place the order online for $203.95 He puts me on hold for 10 minutes,then the rep asks me to check my amazon account to confirm the price adjustment and................. WHAMMMMM TOTAL ORDER: $3.59 I check my bank account to confirm, and sure enough $3.59 Just wanted to share this story with others, persistence pays off I was thinking while on hold, I hope this CS agent did not just make me order a Blu Ray player with no intention of adjusting the price lol Thanks goes to forum member Noname for starting that thread on the deal Last edited by ixlegitballinxl; 11-13-2008 at 10:02 AM. |

If it hadn't shipped I would have cancel-ed and made a new order.
I don't think I would have refused shipment on a HDTV though. Anyway,... glad it worked for ya. -Brian Edit- Ima gonna call and talk about this thread till they give me a $4 player ![]() |

Amazon is real good about customer service. That is why I like dealing with them. Obviously, you shouldn't have gotten in on the promotion, but they still worked with you to make you happy. That is the sign of a good company - will go out of their way to make you happy.

Yeah, I had to be persistent to get my $6.83 back for shipping a product to some seller. I bought a bd box set tv series, and it was supposed to be new. It wasn't and the box was damaged so he told me to send it back to him. He didn't refund me the shipping cost and I emailed him and he didn't reply. Then I left a negative rating, he replied saying it was new and that I watched it and returned to him. I was pissed, contacted Amazon about getting my shipping money back and they told me twice that he already refunded me the money for the bd and that I wouldn't get a refund. So finally the third time after telling them I just want the $6.83 and not the amount of the bd they finally gave me the refund. It was a bit of hassle since I kept telling them I already got the refund for the bd, but not for shipping it back and that's all I wanted.

rock on, man.
i did something similar with an amazon bluray promotion way back. bought american psycho and blade runner, 1 week later they were included in a B2G1 offer. i called amazon just to see if they would honor the promotion and the rep (surprisingly) agreed to, allowing me to choose another bluray from the list that they would send to me absolutely free. if they weren't going to i wouldn't have persisted that much, since i didn't buy the blurays during the promotion and therefore shouldnt have been entitled to a 3rd for free, but if you don't ask you don't get, and there's never any harm in asking. |

I've had a similar situation to this a couple times. Recently I bought a Sony player and minutes after I ordered it I checked my email and found a promotion for $50 off 3 Warner movies with the purchase of selected players, of which the Sony qualified. I tried to cancel my item but it wouldn't let me so I emailed customer service. They said they couldn't help me so I replied that I would refuse shipment and not reorder and then they told me to go ahead and place my order for the movies and they would credit my account for the $50. I've found when complaining about situations like these they will usually tell you they can't do anything the first time you contact them. If you follow-up and threaten to cancel they'll usually give you the deal.
