So I happen to notice that Sony has released a 160GB version of the PS3. I've been told that it has the same software configuration as the 80GB version, however I read another article where someone complained it had no backwards compatibility at all, which would mimick the 40GB version. Has anyone bought one of these and can testify to which is more accurate? I'm also confused why Sony would do this as you could spend now $400 on the 80GB version, and another $200 on a 500GB hard drive and have a 500GB PS3. Seriously.... confused... need explanation!

That's right.
From what I've heard, the 160GB is the same as the latest 80GB model... so, also the 40GB. Just PSone BC, two USB and no flash. It's just the hard drives they keep upgrading every SKU because hasn't Sony officially stopped the BC tech a while ago? |
