Default Ps3 160gb

So I happen to notice that Sony has released a 160GB version of the PS3. I've been told that it has the same software configuration as the 80GB version, however I read another article where someone complained it had no backwards compatibility at all, which would mimick the 40GB version. Has anyone bought one of these and can testify to which is more accurate? I'm also confused why Sony would do this as you could spend now $400 on the 80GB version, and another $200 on a 500GB hard drive and have a 500GB PS3. Seriously.... confused... need explanation!

I think you have one of the outdated pictures of the new batman model. The newer released pic has the ps3 Bat-controller displayed on the front of the box.

They should just stick 1 TB in the PS3 instead of overcharging everyone per gigabyte.

I don't think there are 1tb drives available for 2.5" sata units.

The new 80 gig is not backwards compatible either. the only 80 gig that was backwards compatible was the one that came with motorstorm.

Incorrect. The MGS4 80gb bundle was also backwards compatible.

All PS3's play PSone games. No 'current' models play PS2 games.

If you're lucky and live in North America you may find an MGS4 80GB PS3 pack which will play PS2 games.

I treasure my 3 60gig PS3's, but I might get another PS3 just so I can retire one of my 60's.

The Batman one is mint. If Sony wanted to sell a truck load of PS3's with this they could release it on December 1, 8 days before Batman actually comes out on BD/DVD.

Wait, is there actually a Batman bundle? I've never heard of it. If not, whoever made that picture is very skilled. It looks awesome!

not available yet, 500 gb only came available within the last year as it is. Unless you want to get conversion cables and have the hard drive sitting outside the PS3.

That's right.

From what I've heard, the 160GB is the same as the latest 80GB model... so, also the 40GB. Just PSone BC, two USB and no flash.

It's just the hard drives they keep upgrading every SKU because hasn't Sony officially stopped the BC tech a while ago?
