Actually the XBR 7 52inch will also have the 240hz

It is coming soon and I would probably wait for that.

Sometime in the future we might see some company come out with both 10:10 pulldown 240HZ LCD with LED back lighting. Then the picture quality might be better or around the same quality of a high-end Plasma screen. The LED back lighting LCD's have excellent color accuracy. The 240HZ LCD's greatly eliminate motion blur to where it hardly is a issue anymore.

Are you sure. I work at a retail store where I can get 60% off sony tvs as well through cyber scholar but the xbr 7 or xbr 8 are not on the list double check that. Also I heard the xbr8 is price protected.

I haven't seen the 70" Sony XBR7 yet, but that would be my primary consideration if I could get 60% off! That would bring the price down from $20K to $8K.

Its true, retail employees get 60% via cyberscholar. You actually buy the tv through sony via cyberscholar, so if sony wants to sell it for 60% off they can, they dont have to worry about price protection if it is their own product. Only retail stores have to abide by price protection

The Sony XBR7 70 inch display does not have as good of picture quality compared to the Sony KDL-55XBR8 RGB LED backlighting. For $20,000 one can own a Sony 70 inch XBR7 but the picture quality is better on the $7,000 KDL-55XBR8.

According to this review the Sony KDL-55XBR8 is the best LCD screen on the market in terms of picture quality with only a Pioneer Plasma beating the overall picture quality of the XBR8.

I'm aware where you buy the tv from. Cyberscholar doesn't offer the xbr 7 or xbr 8 for a 60% discount.
