Default Which studio will release a BD before the DVD release date?

One thing which i will always remember about DVD is that you could buy a DVD when you could only rent the VHS, which studio will be the first to do this on Blu-ray?

ew Line says it will release the critically-acclaimed film on Blu-ray June 10. (Note that although earlier press reports had indicated a week delay for the 'Be Kind' standard DVD, New Line tells us the flick will be released on both formats June 10.)

Warner will push the hardest for this type of marketing move. While I have been upset with some of their standard practices, they have been the best studio at trying to push Blu-ray into the mainstream.

I guessed fox because they seem to be the most anti-piracy studio.

The first studio to do this will be Sony Pictures.

If something is going to happen in the short term it will be maybe if The Dark Knight sells exceptionly well Warner will release some Blu-Rays earlier. That i doubt though.

The strongest possibility is that Sony will release Quantum of Solace a week or at a push two before the DVD.

That i would not be at all surprised to see. Sony have already been pulling out of Xbox Netflix services so why whould they want to aid another product that's competing with Blu-Ray.

Yeah DVD makes a lot of cash for Sony but they stand to make a lot more money from Blu-Ray given they invented the format.

Definitely Sony. After all, they released the Hancock Blu-ray 2 weeks early at all Best Buy stores for the Reward Zone Members Only event!

That was one of Warner Brothers many Press Release snafus much like the initial announcement for some of the HD-DVD port releases not have Dolby TrueHD even though the HD-DVD version did, Batman Begins anyone. It was corrected within the week.

No you cant. DVDs will still have priority over Blu Ray in 3-4 years. And even if it wasn't, to think it wont be released on DVD at all, is just ridiculous

Hate to burst your bubble, but DVD will still be the dominant format for years to come. BD has nowhere NEAR the market penetration to be making wildly ludicrous statements like this.

Where looking at 2011 till the next Batman. And who saids i meant America. What about Japan already 30% of home media sales come from Blu-Ray. In the US though only 10%-13% yes but player prices are falling rapidely and already in short space of time 50% of US homes have an HD-TV.

Come 2011 i say there will be more than enough penetration.

And I say you are insanely naive to believe that a major Hollywood movie released in 2011 will not have a DVD release, regardless of country.
