If it's HD built in it has to be at least 720p. If it is not HD, which it should be, Blu-ray would be somewhat useless.

WTF is "HD built"?

Seriously, do people really drop large amounts of $$ on purchases that they know absolutely NOTHING about? Emerson??? What's next, Monster HDMI cables and a Bose sound system?

Is this your TV? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5663667

If so, yes, your TV is HD. Blu-ray will look better than regular DVD.

I was wondering what that is too! If its HD anything it has to be at least 720p!

I think he meant to put HD-Built-in/ready. Even though for the most part those terms are useless, it means the TV is HD.

If it is the one in your link, then it is a 720p. I started with a 32" and would hate to go back now.

In your case, it does not really matter because this tv is only capable of playing 720p. You are feeding it 1080i,and it accepts it, but it is not able to play it. Some people claim that feeding a higher resolution can lead to better picture, even if your tv is incapable of playing it, but in reality, I doubt it makes much difference.
