I am currently upgrading my setup but I have a very limited budget. I am shedding my Sony BDP300 for a Samsung 2500 and I want to upgrade my surround sound as well. I want a home theater system that is not HDMI audio passthrough only, because I have heard that even though you can get HD audio through multichannel outputs, it doesn't sound the same as it would had it been sent through an HDMI cable. (Is this true?)
My problem is that I live on a teacher's salary so I need the cheapest system out there that does this. I've looked at a few, but I figured I'd ask the experts. ![]() So, 1) Is it worth the extra money buying a system that processes HDMI audio or are multichannel analogs sufficient? 2) If it is worth the extra money, which one is the best bargain? |
