Default Best Buy should go to a card based Reward Certificate system

Why is it still required to print out a reward certificate just to redeem it at the store?
It's a waste of paper and really we have the technology to eliminate such waste.

Big Lots has a reward program too, but unlike Best Buy when a customer has one available on their account (via their card) the cashier asks if they wish to use it on this purchase or not.

Since we have to show our card at Best Buy to get points why not do the same thing as Big Lots, just show your card and if you have a reward certificate on your account you can choose to use it or not on your purchase.

It just seems that Best Buy is really behind the times on this and as I said before it's a waste of paper and of course our time to go online and print out the certificate in the first place.
