Arrow IMAX lineup for next summer

it looks like J.J. Abrams' Star Trek will be showing in IMAX theaters next year. While it wasn't necessarily shot with IMAX cameras, the film will be converted to 70mm for projection on IMAX screens. Star Trek will hit both regular and IMAX theaters everywhere on May 8th next summer. It looks like IMAX theaters will have a very busy summer, with Star Trek kicking things off in early May, followed by Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Fueled by the immense success of The Dark Knight last summer, Hollywood has really ramped up their IMAX offerings for next year.

I would really like to see Trek on IMAX. Transformers 2 is filming with IMAX cameras and Potter will feature 20 minutes in IMAX 3-D

The only IMAX near where I live is at the US Space and Rocket Center. They should end up playing Star Trek since it's space-related. I'd like to see it.

The other movies listed don't interest me at all.

Trek in IMAX would probably look great.

The nearest Imax to my town is 90 miles away. But my local theater has two theaters that seat 424 people each and a huge curved screen, so im fine with that.

Don't forget about The Dark Knight re-releasing in January. My local theater just had one of their screens converted to an IMAX so I don't have to drive an hour away anymore.

Lucky, I wish my theater would do that.

where did you hear this? that doesn't make much sense it will have already been out on dvd and blu-ray for about a month. why would people pay to see it in theaters again if they own it on blu-ray or dvd? or can rent it for half the price?

Oh and for the reason why they would re release it. Well there are quite a few people who believe the big screen is still better to see a movie, especially a movie like TDK, than at home.

WTF - Venom?! Wikipedia has this listed for Marvel Studios 2009:

2009
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Gavin Hood - 20th Century Fox
Venom - Columbia Pictures

Avi Arad, producer and former Marvel Comics executive, plans to produce a Venom spin-off, although it is currently unknown if Topher Grace will reprise his role.[29] Regardless, Marvel is moving forward with the film.[30] It has been reported that Sony is going to be developing the film and Jacob Aaron Estes will be the writer. [31] Todd McFarlane, who defined Venom's look in the comics, hopes Sony makes him creepier than what he was in Spider-Man 3.[32]

Will any of these IMAX movies be in 3-D? I thought the new 2009 Terminator movie was going to be in IMAX too. Apparently not.

Yeah I saw that yesterday. They haven't done anything yet, so there is 0% chance it comes out next year
