Calm down, man. Movies are subjective things, what works for one person doesn't work for everyone.

The HD Extra rating also appears to be based on content that is exclusive to the Blu-Ray disc. While I think that it should be based on the quality of/resolution of extras, the site apparently feels that Blu-Rays should come with exclusive features.

Calm down, relax, and enjoy the movie based on your own merits rather than a reviewers.

This is the internet, home of random rage against opinions. I could honestly see quite a few people stating those opinions honestly. lol.

Holy crap, he compared it to scream? Thats like saying "Gold did for metal what hagweed did for plants." It just didnt make any sense.

He starts off acting like he's gonna dissect it because it's not flawless, then does nothing but praise it, then says his only complaint is it's too long........ and then gives it a 4 out 5? I could kinda see a 4.5. If he wanted it to be perfect to get a 5 I'd love to see what movie out there is perfect.

I actually agree with him on TDK and I usually despise his take on films. Like him, I felt that the third act was jumbled and lacked a cohesive thesis that pulled together the 3 or 4 different themes running around, in addition to Two-Face being wasted and feeling forcefully tacked on (he would have been better suited as the main villian in the next film).

It was still an amazing and deep film. Its quite possible to love something and still have some complaints.

I typically never buy into the "bias this or that" talk around High-def digest, but this review has me seriously considering how much stock I will put into their reviews in the future.

It's really unfortunate that, in my opinion, this thing was tailored to create the "buzz" review to drive traffic to their site.

I'd love to go through a list of all the other movies they gave a "highly recommended" to and see how they stack up in my view to The Dark Knight.

What a joke.

It's odd that Bracke and the folks on AVS look at this Blu-ray and think they see edge enhancement.

"in my view"

While I think Bracke has horrible taste based on my own preferences (and I have been wondering too about HDD's credibility when it seems like Bracke always goes against the grain on all of his reviews. The Casino review being superior to Goodfellas one comes to mind) its just that. His view over yours. We should feel free to talk about our own opinions freely but at the end of the day he can write whatever he wants because its a review which is based off of his own opinion.

And in this case I agree with his minor story complaints concerning TDK. And like I said earlier, having minor complaints doesn't mean you dislike the film. He did give it 4 stars which is more than accurate with "my own view".

I think 4 stars is generous. I'd give it a 3 at most.

It makes you wonder.

For example, he gave the BD "Blades Of Glory" the same audio rating as the HD-DVD, even though the BD had lossless audio, the HD-DVD did not. And even though he gave both versions a 3.5 star overall grade, his bottom line grade is "recommended" on HD-DVD, but "worth a look" on BD.

As for reviews of the films themselves, Bracke just parrots what the mainstream reviews say. I don't think I've ever seen him like a film that the reviewers didn't like.

You read that site? I think that you are the only one. Please keep us updated on what goes on there . Nothing on blu-ray was ever good enough for them, unless it is undeniably reference . Anyway keep me updated. I don't have clicks to waste.

30 Days of Night, The Bucket List and Sex and the City... and that's just three of his I randomly remembered off the top of my head. He's usually not too far off from the general consensus, but he's not as bad as most people make him out to be.

You are 100% wrong. The biggest complaints he gets are that his taste stray from the norm to the point that people question whether he is doing it just to get hits and annoy everyone.

Likewise, I never once felt that the site was pro HD DVD or BD. And since HD DVDs demise the site has been 100% pro-blu.

Uhhh, right. Considering we live in a 1 format world now and almost 99% of what they review and cover is blu ray based I would say you are wrong.

From Blu-ray.com:

Quote:
Some have complained about the subtle use of edge enhancement as detracting from the overall picture quality, but I believe what they are seeing is an ever-so-slight glow effect that makes the bright areas of some scenes appear heightened. Deducting points for this type of brightness would be silly. - The Dark Knight Blu-ray Review
