Default acer aspire 6920g..

I recently picked up the above and having a few problems, so hoping someone has some answers for me. Tried a couple Blu-ray disks and some will play (ie I Am Legend) and some will not (ie Independance Day). The older movie had a sheet of paper included with disk with a website (this one ) to update drivers, however I can`t find the proper one here. I f anyone knows the proper driver for the Aspire running the Acer Arcade Deluxe, would appreciate the link. Also found when hooked up to TV via HDMI cable, the screen would show up on TV but movie will not play...get a message about graphics card being wrong one. The current graphics card is a GeForce 9500M GS, how much higher does it need to go....aother driver maybe? Opinions are appreciated.

Personally, I would avoid drivers from other than the manufacturer.

As for the graphics card being wrong... if the disc plays on the laptop, and won't display on the TV, I'm guessing that either the TV is not HDCP complaint(or having handshake problems) or maybe the laptop is not set to TV only in display properties.

I too purchased a Acer 6020G and am having the same problems with veiwing the blue ray on a TV. it says I have an incompatible drive. Spoke to Acer Tech and they say to download new driver but none is available at the Acer site and the ones at the Nvidia site are not compatible. I presently have a complaint filed with ACER. One of the ACER Tech told me that the graphics card is not bit enough to handle a 42" HD plasma TV so I tried it on my 33" HD Tube and same problem. Will keep you posted. I purchased this unit through The Shopping Channel and have also launched a complaint with them Will keep you posted

I have the Gemstone Acer Aspire 5920 with the blu drive and when connected to my LG 42" via HDMI 1080P it looks faboulous .. It has the NVIDIA 8600GT dedicated graphics card and in the control panel you have to make your TV the only display by default and disable the lappy screen all together. Hope that helps you out some.

I followed your instructions and was able to get my 6920G to play back the blue ray on to my 42" HDTV. It just proves that the techies at some of these high end places don't know their products.

Thanks

Default Did you manage to get the sound as well?

I have been reading along on this thread.

I have an Acer Aspire 5920 which I am connecting to my Loewe Xelos A42 plasma with HDMI. I have been trying everything and I cannot get the sound through to my TV - only the picture.

I have tried to change the the settings in the player software to SPDIF and I have tried to make the Realtek HDMI output the default sound unit without any luck.

Any suggestions?

From everything that I've read, the Aspire 5920 will only pass video through the HDMI port - you must connect your laptop via SPDIF to a digital in (your headphone out - on this unit can also function as digital out - you only have 2 choices, either speakers or Realtek Digital Output {high Definition Audi}). The HD audio is not HDMI - works a little different in computer land sometimes - it's the headphone out thats configured for digital out. If your TV set has a coax digital input you can get a mini pin (1/8) plug to go into the laptop - out to a coax or rca on the TV/receiver end. Set your software to spdif and you should be good to go. If your TV doesn't have a spdif input - you will need to send the sound to a receiver. I hope this helps

Wink Acer 6920G Blue ray problems

I have finally cracked the problem of getting sound and vision to play on a HD TV through the Acer Blue Ray. As in the previous threads, make sure that the screen output to the TV only is selected, you will get an error message if you try to dual it through the lappy as well. For the sound, right click the speaker icon at bottom of screen, select Playback Devices, select Digital Output Device (HDMI) then set as default. Press OK to exit then sound will output to your TV through the HDMI cable. Remember to reset back to Speakers before you can listen to your lappy. Hope this helps
