Default Digging Up the Marrow (2014)

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Diggi...120049/#Review

Quote:
A documentary exploring genre based monster art takes an odd turn when the filmmakers are contacted by a man who claims he can prove that monsters are indeed real.

I added this to my Amazon wish list a while ago and the price has dropped significantly, down to around $11. I don't see any forum thread for this one.

Has anyone seen this? I'm thinking of buying it... the BD has a good review on this site. I'm just curious as to actual opinions on the film. Is it low budget?

I watch a lot of $1,000-budget movies, so Digging Up the Marrow seemed like a lavish production to me. It even had a recognizable actor in Ray Wise, which is more than I can say of a lot of the movies I watch.

I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fellow horror buffs. The execution isn't perfect, but it has a unique concept that is pulled off pretty well.

I actually really enjoyed it, even if it 's basically Nightbreed: The Documentary and stumbles toward the finish line. It's got a fantastic performance from Ray Wise, too.

Love this movie. Has some really freaky monster designs and scares. Definitely a good Halloween night pick for me.

We briefly talked about it in the Recommend an indie horror movie thread when the thread was first created (page one). I like the film. It was heavily bootlegged though and Director Adam Green has stated that because of this the planned sequels will never happen. It's a shame too as the end of the film is interesting and it has a very cool Nightbreed vibe about the whole thing that really could have been something special in the sequel.

Very fun flick, sucks to hear about bootlegging killing off sequel plans.
I bought mine legit, unless BB is selling boots now!

I'm seeing (on dvdprofiler) I got it at BB for $9.99, but not until 4/14/15. Release was 3/24, so probably not first week special, & don't recall passing, and wouldn't have as Adam Green has always come through at least entertaining if not flat out awesome. Did the price go up significantly sometime since? Looks to be in print and not much hype around it.

Regarding price, it was $15 when I added it to my wish list on Amazon late last year. Went down to ~$11 a few months ago.

You guys have sold me. This sounds awesome. I'm gonna buy it.

Looks like I picked it up for $9.99 on 5/14/16 as well. Adam Green actually does a lot of live Q&A's on facebook and I asked him about the film last year after having posted about it in the comments during the Victor Crowley premier launch. He re-iterated that unfortunately that title was heavily bootlegged (or so he believed) so any plans for future films were DOA. He was thankful for the fans that bought it though and seemed disappointed that things turned out how they did.

This one arrives via Amazon tomorrow. I'm excited. Even if I don't like it I can take the $11 loss.

I've been watching a ton of 80s horror lately so I'm looking forward to changing it up for a night.
