Default Rob Lowe and family are rescued from vacation home in Southern France

Rob Lowe and family

Rob Lowe's wife Sheryl hugging first responder after rescue

"Actor Rob Lowe and his family had to be rescued after their vacation home in the south of France was flooded by a torrential downpour.

The 50-year-old, his wife and son had to be evacuated from the property in Grasse on Wednesday morning after a heavy downpour completely submerged the first floor.

It came after three months of rain fell on the area in less than four hours.

The "Parks and Recreation" star posted a snap of the flowing water to his Instagram account soon after.

"This is is right outside the house. Was twice as high at the worst, just before sunrise," he wrote.

He later shared another picture of his wife Sheryl Berkoff, 53, hugging one of the rescuers in front of a fire engine, reports the Toronto Sun.

"My wife being rescued this am in the horrific flooding in Grasse France. Glad we are safe. Grateful to first responders," he noted.

"The West Wing" star's son Johnny, 19, also chronicled the chaos on social media by posting a video of the raging torrent to Instagram.

"That's the first floor of our house submerged. Scariest hour or so of my life, also sorry for the explicit language. #theboyssurviveaflood," he wrote.

The actor, his son and wife reportedly set off on a European vacation - so far to Spain and France - two weeks ago with some of the youngster's friends."

Well guess he will just have to buy another multi-million dollar vacation home.

I'm glad that Lowe and his family are safe.

I was flooded out of a first-floor apartment back in 2009, and I lost a lot of possessions. The suddenness of it really took me off guard. I was sitting in my living room reading a book, I saw water start to flow across my carpet, and, within five minutes, my entire apartment was submerged with inches of water. Thankfully, my situation was not life-threatening.
