Default Super Hi Vision 2025

So it seems the next leap or at least the TV's to support the next leap in home media. If at all possible to have such a large resolution on a TV less than 60 inches.

Looks to be on target for 2025. What do you guys make of all this.

There's always something new around the corner. It's been hard enough getting the public to convert to HDTV though, but there's always ones that want the next best thing.

Great, now I'll have to buy Star Wars AGAIN

I say BRING IT ON!!! TECHNOLOGY can't move fast enough for me!!

That being said BLU-ray will still be around and stand the test of time especially because it seems that at that point we Really won't be able to notice a difference or we will all have HUGE WALL TVs and everything will be life size and TV will be more than just a TV... it will be like our window and we will have a library of "environments" to experience!!!

AND OLD movies will probably not be good enough for that format so we will just buy NEW movies in that format. WHICH MEANS....

KEEP BUYING BLU B!TCHES!!!!

DVD was an intermediate format that just happened to become a phenomenon. Watching 480p material on a 1080i/p capable display never made real sense.

Blu-ray is the natural progression of home video. As it stands, 1080p is the highest available consumer level resolution and BD maximizes that. We are as far as we can go until a whole new technology (such as this) takes over.

How long that will take is anyone's guess. If I had to take a shot I would say 1080p as a non-professional, at home standard will be around for awhile.

Well, you know I think most people won't be able to tell the difference between that and streamed 80Mbps upscaled 2160p on their 8m OLED 4320p screens.

I just meant like "STUPID" people now say "DVD is just fine, there is not a BIG difference between DVD & BLU" THAT IS WRONG NOW...as there is obviously a big difference and that is a FACT NOT OPINION!!

BUT IN 2025 we can ACTUALLY say "BLU is just fine, there is not a BIG difference between BLU & Hi-vision" and you will probably be right because our eyes won't beable to see the difference....I think all the future can add is different ways to experience the movie like TOUCH, SMELL, 3-D and INTERACTIVITY....

I 100% agree and thats why I hate people who think BLU is the "scam" when DVD was the "Scam" (Not that it was a scam)

and about TECHNOLOGY....
I am 100% sure that BLU could have been out when DVD was released it is just because of STUPID business decisions that cause TECHNOLOGY to be left behind....

FOR EXAMPLE...I believe (in a non-conspiracy way) that we have the knowledge to be able to run CARS on what ever the hell we want and it is just business getting in the way of TECHNOLOGY really advancing...

That and stupid consumers who just buy into whatever is thrown in their faces....

With the way memory is coming down in price, I wouldn't be surprised to see the end of disc based media and the rise of postage stamp-sized SD cards (or similar technology).

Who knows though. That's the best part of technology. No one in 1989 would have believed what we have just 20 years later... imagine what we'll have in another 20 years.
