...and what's the difference in them?

And what is lossless?

I just clicked on players and chose the specs of a player and the audio formats are

Dolby Digital

Dolby Digital+

Dolby TrueHD

Dolby TrueHD (bitstream)

DTS

DTS-HD

DTS-HD MA

DTS-HD MA (bitstream)

PCM

WMA

MP3

OGG

AAC

SACD

DVD Audio

I feel silly but I'd like to know, too... I recognize the difference and the hierarchy based on user comments from all around the format, but in reality I have no clue what each one really means.

PCM = Uncompressed Audio = no distortion, no compression
Dolby True HD = Lossless Audio = no distortion, compressed
DTS-HD MA = Lossless Audio = no distortion, compressed
Dolby Digital = Lossy Audio = distortion, compression
DTS legacy = Lossy Audio = distortion, compression

The only difference between Dolby and DTS is how they compress the files

These are the big three, & ya there supposed to be the same, but it really depends on who is making the audio track...?
