Hey Guys,
About 2 maybe 3 months ago I upgrade my OS from XP to WIN7 (french version) and it all worked great but I since I feel more at ease on an english system I reinstalled Win7 english last week-end. So I made the switch to WIN7 English without a problem and all seemed fine at first. When I had the French version installed I could stream files from my PC to the PS3 within a few seconds... Turn on the PS3 searched for a media server to refresh it and started watching. Now that I installed the english version, I am having so much trouble its unreal. Took me approx 4-5 hours just to get the PS3 to find my D: drive... but I still can't get it to see the video files in the drive. I tried sharring the drive, the folder, each file etc..etc..etc.. and still nothing going on. Can anyone help me out? I'm out of ideas here... BTW, I wasn't sure if this was the proper place to ask this question, so sorry if it wasn't. Thanks. EDIT: LOL And btw, I meant STREAMING not STEAMING issues.... I had the same issue. I get Media Server Error 2006 error message on the PS3. I googled this and most of the results said that it is a Windows/Windows Media Player Error where most media players separate from your PC cannot communicate properly with Windows 7. The recommendations (I believe I found this somewhere on this site as well) recommended running Tversity or a different media server software.
I loaded Tversity and have been able to stream everything to every device I have successfully for a few weeks now. I apologize if this doesn't fully address the issue. I don't know exactly why WMP won't stream properly with WIN7. I'm still learning about networking myself. This solution did solve my problems though. Hopefull this can be fully corrected in future software/firmware updates. I hope this helps. |

I agree. Tversity is the way to go. If your PC is fast enough though or has an Intel Core 2 Duo try using PMS.
My PC is slow so I've never been able to use PMS at top performance but it streams all types of video codecs. One thing TVersity can't do . . . or at least not for me. |

For starters stop using WMP and download PS3 media server. You will have no problems with it unless you behind a tuff Antivirus and Firewall like ESET Smart Security then there's alot of setting you need to setup to get it to work but if you use Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows 7 Firewall then you will be ok. It will stream everything you can think of. |

Sorry for the late reply guys... Kinda lost track of this one.
This is what I find odd. I wasn't really using WMP to stream anything when I had the french Win7 installed. All I needed to do was turn on the PC and that was it... turned on the PS3, searched for my media server (to update what was newly loaded) and there it was... very odd. There was some lag when playing music but all was good with video. Ill DL PS3MS tonight and see how that works. more to come.... Thanks for the help guys! |
