Arrow BD Reviews: Too Few/Too Sluggish

With all due respect to the reviewers here at Blu-ray.com, I feel that we are not getting enough reviews -- or many reviews are waaaay too far behind the actual BD release date, especially catalog items that are being cranked out by the studios. Do we not have enough reviewers? Perhaps we need a dedicated panel of qualified reviewers to exclusively handle catalog releases.

By now we should have reviews up for Austin Powers, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Home Alone, Jingle All The Way etc. After all, many of us would like to know about the PQ and AQ of a new catalog release before we go out and buy it. We often have to look elsewhere for timely catalog reviews.

Aren't the studios supplying advance copies to Blu-ray.com well ahead of release date so the BDs can be screened and reviewed in ahead of time?

Surely with all of the movie fans on this site there must be a few who qualify and are willing to volunteer to review catalog releases (if you are indeed looking for volunteers, I would like to submit an application for consideration).

All I am saying is that as more and more catalog movies are released we need more and more TIMELY reviews. My comment and request should be taken as a positive reflection regarding Blu-ray.com as it demonstrates its importance to me (and many others here) as being our number one resource for all-things Blu-ray.

Once again, kudos to the Blu-ray.com staff of reviewers. You are all most appreciated.

I applied to be a reviewer a long time ago but never heard back Ive been a reviewer for nearly a year for a newspaper among other jobs.

My reviews have always been done day and date when I get them regardless.

Concerining some of the titles though.. Austin Power wasnt sent out early.

Day earth stood still I dont think was either, nor home alone or jingle all the way. I received only DVD copies of DESS.

In all fairness though sometimes some people do have a lot to take on.

With the new year, Blu-ray.com will add to the staff a well-known reviewer who will greatly contribute to our ability to address your concerns. We realize we're not perfect yet, but the developers here have a goal to deliver exactly what you're asking for. In the meantime, thank you for your patience.

Excellent news. Your reviews are always helpful and I'm glad more are coming

First of all, we only just received Home Alone and The Day the Earth Stood Still today, with Jingle All the Way still MIA. We cannot review what we don't have. You will notice that no other sites have reviews for these titles either, and if they do, they rented or purchased them themselves. You will also notice that we are not the only site that has not reviewed every title. No site that I am aware of features 100% coverage. Blu-ray.com offers the most extensive coverage of Blu-ray titles from around the world.

Second, Blu-ray.com generally publishes several reviews per day, and as Greg alluded to, another reviewer will be joining our ranks soon. We also have a call out for someone to cover anime titles exclusively.

Third, our reviewers generally write the most comprehensive reviews online. Still, if anyone is not satisfied with the coverage, there are multiple other sources out there. We do not have a monopoly on Blu-ray reviews.
