I am looking to get a new HDTV 60-65" in size. I am leaning towards the Pioneer kuros line. I would love the pro 151 but I can't find a deal anywhere. The pro 6020 seems to be a little less costly. I have heard that the color temp is not as accurate as the 151. Is the 6020 still the best way to go or does someone have a better suggestion for a 60-65" HDTV. Also I have noticed on some tv's in the store especially sony that the movies look more like cheap digital video than film. Does this have to do with the 120HZ motion feature? I really don't want that video look on my blu ray movies. If anyone knows of sets that do not have that problem please let me know as well. I'm guessing Pioneer does not. I have only been able to see the 151 in the store with the pioneer demo and it looked great but they did not have the 6020.

Stick with the Kuro and you'll be happy!
![]() The soap-opera effect is the super-duper-motionator crap that some LCDs are now sporting (it has nothing to do with 120Hz). You'll not see any of that in a plasma because it doesn't need it. If you really want to go big, then I'd recommend the Panasonic TH-65PZ850U! Picture will be just a slight step down from the Kuros. |

I have the 73" version of this one. This is a great deal. Fantastic picture. Great bang for your buck, if you want to go this route.

Kuros always come recommend but unlike some here, i don't think you should throw LCD out of the mix, or at least the LED LCD versions & that soap opera effect on them shouldn't be an issue when properly calibrated & are in fact giving the Kuros a real run for their money now in key areas, black level & motion handling
You didn't mention a budget so i will throw the Mitsubishi LaserVue into the mix, which i believe will beat a Kuro in a dead on centre viewing position even after optimum calibration on both If also possible, wait till next year for the Neo-PDP panels & newer LED LCDs |

i was just posting about this in another thread - if you are thinking 60-65" screen, i'd at least take a look at some projectors and screens as well - assuming you have the kind of room that can accommodate a projector/screen set up...you can get a much bigger screen and great projector for similar costs

Panasonic 65PZ850U Plasma. Once you think that's the one, then start reading about "flicker" issues ![]() |

You can get Samsung's latest 61" LED DLP for between $1200 and $1600 depending upon retailer and what sales they're running. Awesome picture too.

You haven't lives until you've seen a properly calibrated projector...it boggles the mind!!! When I saw my brother's 95 inch screen and entry level projector (all for $999)...I was stunned. My choice would be a 105 inch. For the cost of a large screen, you can get a 90-105 inch screen and a great projector for around $3! Throw in a new BD player and a A/V receiver for about a $1K, oh, and a few HDMI cables and you're set for life!!! |

Very uncommon. You can read the owners threads on AVS yourself.
Most people either find it looks like film or is un-noticeable. A vast minority find it does bother them, a handful of reviewers who likely stand right up at the screen to read measurements find it to be "unwatchable" I've asked Gary Merson, the HD Guru, whether or not he was testing the set up close or was at an optimum viewing distance when he found the flicker to be "unwatchable" and he has yet to respond. Chris from Cleveland Plasma has a TH-58PZ850U and he says there is no flicker, nor has he had anyone else complain about it. Some think they can't live without true 24Hz reproduction despite having done so for ten years with DVD. If you're one of the select few that finds the filmic flicker to be unwatchable you can always put it into 60Hz mode. |

as for 48hz being "unwatchable", that's just FUD being spread by people who don't understand the point of this feature |

If by "does 1080/24p like a charm" you mean applies 3:2 pulldown and displays it at 60 fps, sort of negating the benefit of a 24fps source, then, sure, a charm that is...
