Default Amadeus (mistake?)

I had hoped that Amadeus would offer a selection of the theatrical or extended edition. It would have been nice. We prefer the original theatrical cut in this house.

It only has the extended version.

The MISTAKE (in my opinion) was that Warner provided a Windows-only digital copy. What the puck! It should have been Windows AND Mac compatible. Itunes has Amadeus for $9.99 so there IS an Apple / Mac version of the digital copy.

Sheesh!

And, even then....it's the Directors Cut.

Seriously: We can't just sit here and whine about it--
The consensus is at the point where fans have got to actively start beating down Warner's doors about it, and they'll get no argument from Milos.

And Warner's had experience before with bad overpromoted EE's that ultimately didn't go down well with the fans, but at that point, the theatrical version of "JFK" was already on disk to fall back on.
We don't have that luxury with The Only Version of Amadeus That Warner Bothered to 1080-Master...Hence the need to give them an extra kick in the pants about it.

So true.
However, you'll be all set if you have Fusion.

Saul Zaentz owns the rights to the film, and licences them to Warner. Schaffer, Foreman, and Zaentz prefer the Director's cut, and have chosen to release it as the sole version of the film. That is why it was also never re-released on DVD with the Theatrical Cut. The film could easily just be cut down to create a theatrical cut...nothing was changed in the original cut...only new material was added. So a 1080p master doesn't need to be re-made...but it's not going to happen, simply because Zaentz and co prefer it that way. Trust me, I'd love to see it happen...it's my favorite film of all time, and I prefer the theatrical as well...but I also would rather have the director's cut than no Blu-ray at all.

I'm to understand Forman DOESN'T like the cut, or at least takes issue with Zaentz essentially dumping in every deleted scene for the sake of a new cut (FWIH, Milos is in the keep-Stanzie's-dress-on camp)--
Compare this, for ex., to the latest incarnation of "Superman:TM" on SD/Blu, which restores some deleted scenes from other EE's, leaves others back out or still missing, and is about the third or fourth attempt to scramble the various scenes that we've seen so far, for the most direct attempt at its story.

Both studios and x-prods. are used to convincing themselves that "No cut is ever really final", and this Amadeus could certainly use one last redraft.
There's middle ground, we just have to convince Zaentz/Warner that the argument isn't over just because they don't hear anybody saying anything.
