Default Carlos Saura's "La caza(The Hunt)"[1966]

I would love to see this film be given a blu-ray release. It hasn't been released in North America since the days of VHS.

It is a very interesting black & white drama from Spain, in which four Spanish Civil War vets go on a rabbit hunt. The hunt itself serves as an allegory for the War and the prevailing political ideologies present at the time. It's incredibly well made, and pretty surprising it was released, considering the Franco regime's stance on censorship.

At the time of it's release, it was pretty well received. Saura won the Silver Berlin Bear(Best Director at the Berlin International Film Festival), and was nominated for the Golden Bear, actors Alfredo Mayo and Jose Maria Prada won the CEC(Cinema Writers Circle Awards, Spain) Best Actor Award and a Saint Jordi for Best Performance in a Spanish Film, respectively. The film itself won an additional Saint Jordi and CEC award for best film.

Criterion could make an awesome package out of this, but I'd take just about any studio release at this point.

I'm linking a brief scene of it. There are more/longer scenes, but, like this scene, unfortunately, none of them seem to have English subs, so unless you speak Spanish, they're mainly useful for hearing the score and of course, the visuals.
