I have a couple of questions regarding the Klipsch reference line. My receiver is a H/K AVR520 (75Wx5 high current).
1. Is the RC-64 center overkill with the RF-62 as fronts or should I just go with the RC-62? Also is the RC-64 rated at 200W RMS too much for the receiver to handle? 2. The RS-42 surrounds are rated at 75W RMS (same as my receiver), will that cause any issues such as the amp blowing them out etc... Should I go with the RS-52 surrounds instead? 3. Are the RW-10D or 12D subs pretty good or is it better to go with another brand? Any recomendations? Thanks for the repsonses in advance. |

1. The RC-64 is the matching center IIRC, so it would be fine with the 62's. You could always go with smaller version if they make one if size is an issue.
2. As far as power is concerned for the surrounds and center, your receiver will be fine and will power it all. Klipsch speakers are efficient enough that you don't need a lot of power. 3. You can find better (IMO, as this is subjective) for the money. Give some different subs a listen and see what you like. |

The RC-62 is the matching center...I'm looking at the RC-64 myself but it looks to be a bit over-priced at the moment
I would try to keep all your front speakers matched. I have a mismatched center right now and can really notice it. What makes them so efficient? Is it the electronics or the speakers themselves? Last edited by Jello; 12-06-2008 at 10:16 PM. |

2. the RS-42's are fine. your receiver is rated at 75rms, and that should be perfect match. it shouldnt blow your rs42s at all. and if ever, why would you want to go a step higher with the 52s anyhow? the specs sheet also mentions that the 42s go 10hz's lower than the 52s - and i actually like it better than the 52s in this case, even if the 52s are rated at 100w RMS. I always prefer to look at the frequency response and prefer that spec over power handling anyday. 3. you can find better subs out there, including web based ones like svs, hsu research, and elemental designs. your fronts are also a bit bass heavy, so i wouldnt worry unless you have a room bigger than 16ft or so on the short end. |

Thanks for all the responses, I will go with the RC-62 since the 64 is just way too big, heavy and requires a lot more power. I'm still undecided about the RS-42/52 surrounds but leaning towards the RS-42's.

The RS-52's are the recommended surrounds to go with the RF-62's and RC-62.

I couldn't find a good deal on the RS-52's so I got a pair of 42's. They are getting harder to find since they are discontinued. Now, all I need is a subwoofer, I can't find a good deal on the Klipsch RW-12D so I'm considering the Elemental Designs A2-300 but still kind of skeptical.

Well I finally received all the speakers and hooked them up to the receiver as a quick test. I noticed there is a constant buzzing noise coming from all the speakers. It's not too loud, you have to be about 1 foot or closer to hear it but it's there and it's volume independent. I'm gonna disconnect everything when I get a chance and see if there is a short somewhere. Anyone have any other ideas as to what might be causing this, is it just the amp being noisy?

Well, the buzzing is gone now. It was caused by a crappy audio cable connected to one of the inputs.
