just started playing agian....

So I havent been playing my PS3 for almost 6 months now. A lot has changed, including this wierd trophy thing, the store looks better, and we can rent videos now apparently.

So I have some questions for everyone, im sure the answers could be found but I just have so many that its so much simpler to just make a quick thread.

1) First of all, what are some fantastic games out now? Before I loved Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, Virtua Tennis, Heavenly Sword, The Godfather, Uncharted, Super Stardust HD, Calling All Cars, Tekken, and Everyday Shooter; I'm looking for similar stuff that came out since then.

I got Resistance 2 for my Bday and bought Little Big Planet during the Amazon sale. I also DL Street Fighter HD after a recommendation which I have yet to try.

.....bought the simpsons game for 10 bucks lol, im sure it sucks but thats teh cost of a rental so w/e

2) What is up with these trophies? A lot of them are not really accomplishments of any kind. Like in Resistance 2 there is a trophy for 40 kills or w/e, thats just gonna happen from playing, whats the point of that?

Also, I updated Uncharted to get trophies for that to load up. I found tons of things in teh game and beat it on normal but it wont give me trophies for any of it even though I still have teh saved file. Do tehy expect me to do it agian?

Well, the most recent games I have been playing are Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2, and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. You should take a look into COD: World at War. And a new Ratchet & Clank downloadable game is available for download only for $15 on PSN.

By the way, you'll love The Simpsons game if you're a Simpsons fan. As a stand alone title, it doesn't accomplish much, but just the atmosphere, familiarity of it, and jokes were worth it for me. And yes, that is a completely biased opinion as a fan.

Let's see, you've been gone since June so based on your current game ownership plus what you've already picked up, I'd recommend:

- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Prince of Persia
- Soul Calibur IV
- Wipeout HD (PSN)
- Ratchet and Clank : Quest for Booty (PSN)
- Bioshock
- Fallout 3
- Mirror's Edge

There's really no point to them. Just some online bragging rights.

Yes, you have to start a new game and fulfill all the necessary conditions to get the trophies in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (the trophies will not trigger retroactively).

Also when you start a new game, answer "no" when it asks if you want to carry over your treasures and rewards.

Actually its been announced that Trophys you earn in games you'll be able to use in the Playstation Home to buy things with.

Yeah trophies are, in some ways, just bragging rights. But they're also like little bonus objectives that are kinda fun to beat. There's a few on Wipeout HD that are wicked hard to complete, so they're just a nice little add-on to some games. A few before me recommended some good games, but Metal Gear Solid 4 is an absolute must. It'll probably get "game of the year". The graphics are insane, the storyline is very complex, and the gameplay is awesome.

The only game that does not require you to go back and get everything again would be Warhawk, since your progress is tracked on the server and not your local system.
