has anyone used the WD 320Gb Caviar model yet? or just stick with the scorpio model? any major diffs on the two models?
I have a MGS 40gb lim ed on the way and plan to upgrade. already upgraded a regular 80gb model to the scorpio 320gb but was just wondering if the caviar model is better, equal to, etc thanks in advance |

I dont think it really matters. Whatever is cheaper. Got the same PS3 and upgraded with a 500GB HDD I got for 100 bucks on Newegg. Works perfect!

also buy whatever is cheapest. RPM speeds should not matter, ms times should not matter. pick a size and find the cheapest price at that size. Last edited by b0bby; 12-11-2008 at 12:30 PM. |

totally agree... buy 7200rpm over 5400rpm.. the HDD in the ps3 is 5400 u will see a slight difference in load times if you get a faster RPM... there was a benchmark test posted somewhere here on that

Actually I think RPMs do matter. some people have not-so-big issues with lock-ups and few other things with 7200s, PS3 itself is made for running 5400s smoothly... it's better to be safe than sorry, and there'son slight, if any, noticeable difference in speeds

i don't think the "caviar" models are 2.5 inch WD harddrives, i could be wrong. the 2.5 inches i've seen have all been scorpio.
