Default I couldn't tell the difference

So I rented Fantastic Four on blu-ray from netflix just to compare it to the standard dvd. I know its probably not the best disc to choose to compare but whatever.

I have a ps3 and its connected via a sony HDMI cable on my samsung 61" DLP and the ps3 is set on the highest resolution.

I watched some parts of the fantastic 4 blu-ray on my ps3 and watched the same parts on the standard dvd. Im using the xbox 360 as my dvd player and its connected to my tv via component cables.

I couldn't really tell the difference. In fact I thought the standard dvd might have even looked slightly better which totally surprised me.

So far most of my blu-rays that I own or have rented seem to lack clarity and don't seem "crisp" at all.

How can if find out if the problem is my TV? I have had it since March but it was an open box purchase from Sam's Club.
