Default encoding .avis to .mpeg 4

Okay I have the 5 Planet of the Apes movies on my HD as .avi files.

Now I put them on a thumbdrive and load them to the PS3, but it only allows me to copy #2 and #5, the others not so much.

Now I had converted the 5 .avi files to .mp4 via Total Video Converter, and it STILL wouldn't do it.

As the .avi files that I got originally it's the same thing.

So how do I change whatever codec or whatever to allow it to play?

Meaning, how can I convert them to play on the PS3

I find if you search across source forge enough you will find a program to do what you want.

I remember the long process to rip a movie file from a ps2 disc, and then the multiple conversion programes one by one to resync it...

There was not one program that did it instead a non related workflow requiing schouraging forums and various sites to create a workflow to convert the sucker back together, somewhere in the work flow it seperates the video and audio track into seperate files..

Dr. Divx became my special friend then as I just sat and re encoded them together, and that was just so I could show one of my friends this one cgi trailer of SLAI

Yeah the program I normally use is Total Video Converter. It converted the 5 .avi's to .mp4 but still just like in AVI format, only #2 and #5 will play on the PS3.

I just need some program that will actually convert the codec or whatever to play via the PS3.
