Default Total Recall, The Fugitive PQ?

Im thinking about getting these, but I dont know about the PQ.. Blu-ray.com has rated em both 2.0 (no difference from DVD), while highdefdigest has rated em both 3.5.... What are your opinions.. I have already read the user comments on here but they kinda confuse me

Thanks

I have the French version of The Fugitive and it's probably the same transfer... it looks really bad for a BD, it feels like there's a layer of grey over the whole movie.

As for Total Recall, apparently, the UK version uses a much better transfer and is thus the version to import.

Haaber that helps.

I have the UK version of Total Recall.
PQ-wise it's good, I'll give it 3.5/5. The audio is weak though.

No waaaaay...Total Recall is the best sci-fi movie ever!
Also, you should appreciate that Arnold killed so many bad guys in this movie!

Total Recall should be Totally Recalled. As much as I tried to see the difference over my DVD, there is NONE. It is just like the original Blade Runner crapola before it was remastered.

You would probably get a better picture watching the HD broadcast. Trust me, those people do NOT know what they are saying.

On the other hand, if you never owned the movie and want it badly enough, buy it. Otherwise stick with the DVD for now. Wish I did.

I A/B'd both of them and at 1080p and the BD is slightly better. It has a little more detail, film grain can be seen unlike compression artifacting on the DVD, and color rendition is slightly better. For $10, I'd recommend it over the DVD (just sell the DVD if you have it). However, with that said, a remaster would be nice. I suspect, like T2, this is going to be one of those films that will never look remarkably better. The BD has better audio too with the DTS-HD track.

THey both suck.

Fugitive is top 5 movie all time for me and I can't buy it.

Total Recall I got as a gift. I didn't own the DVD so if this is the case then worth picking it up.

The US versions of both movies are mediocre for FUGITIVE and as for
TOTAL RECALL-- it's one of the worst PQ of my entire collection!

trust me-- don't buy either-- they'll be re-released someday with better
quality...

Dude, you can get it for $13 from Amazon. You won't be blowing the bank if you buy it now and sell it when a better transfer comes out.

I thought the fugitive PQ wasn't as bad as some people mentioned. I had never seen the movie until I got the blu and I was content with the transfer. I was expecting the italian job transfer with artifacts everywhere etc.

Thanks for all the answers.. I actually never saw either of the movies, but I recently blind bought Predator and I LOVED IT! I thought it looked pretty good on BD too, so I thought I would go ahead and blind buy Total Recall too, if it wasnt for the sucky reviews... Is Total Recall in the same category as Predator or what?

It's more futuristic. But it does have Schwarzenegger's undying one liners. ^^

Just make sure to get a European (French, German or UK) version.

The Fugitive is a lot worse quality wise than Total Recall. The opening credits is riddled with blocking. If I didn't enjoy the film, I wouldn't have bought it. I'm still questioning if I'll ever be able to watch it again.

Total Recall doesn't look as bad, but its no shinning star. But I really enjoy the film, and its never hard to watch (whereas The Fugitive can be). The audio is average and Arnold is on point. I've watched this disc about 3 times, and I still enjoy it.

what is all this ridiculousness about these movies? Granted i have the UK total recall, but the fugitive looks tons better than the dvd. sure there are some over exposed shots like the night city scenes, but the colors are better and the detail is much better over the DVD. everyone is expecting a 2008 incredible hulk picture with movies and prints that are from a while ago.

Now, could it be better? I suppose. Will there be a better version? I doubt it?

Anyone that says any Blu Ray is the same as the counterpart DVD is blind.

Not trying to start anything, in fact this is all my opinion, please feel free to disagree I won't take it personally if you don't.
