Default Increasing eBay prices

I haven't sold anything on eBay since last summer, and after black friday, decided to sell a couple things I got a steal-deal on.

I found out they increased the final value fee on electronics like games and movies to 15%. That completely discourages me from selling anything at a good price ever again. And probably is the reason prices are so high for blu-rays and games all over eBay now. This may have happened a while ago, between the summer and now, but its upsetting and ridiculous. It's BS for eBay to raise their rates like this when the economy is already doing so bad. They never treat their sellers with the same respect as the consumers.

E-bay sellers fees have become increasingly rediculous over the last few years. Take that with the gouge/persentage Paypal extorts from the seller and I'm surprised any sellers are even left on e-bay.

Not to mention that eBay owns Paypal.

BTW the "new"...er... fees started in October as well as the new again ...er... search system, and despite the economy, up until then I was selling well over $1000 a month in my store. When the effected the changes, I am now doing less than $300 per month. I know SOME of that is the economy, but a lot of it is eBay. I have lowered the price on almost everything I have there to sell out of it. I will close my store when I have moved enough of it out. I blame eBay as not only is it harder to find things you are looking for, but the fees when I sell it are out of this world. I pay them over $12 on a 100 sale, then Paypal takes another 10%, and eBay has put shipping cost caps in effect. I ship something 1st class I loose money now.

Sorry did not mean to rant, I just got into it.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks. I used to sell a ton on eBay but after they raised FVF's I just quit. I sell more on Craigslist now.

It's a trade off now. I was wasting my time traveling to the post office, now I'm wasting my time waiting for buyers to show up.

But it's free.

Ebay has been nose diving even before the sudden economic downturn. I have a huge comic book collection, and most of it was purchased there. I have sold of the books that I had upgraded in the past. However, I would not think of selling anything there at this time.

I have been ripped off on ebay a couple of times by deadbeat sellers. I am now gun shy about buying from ebay unless the seller has positive feedback that's as good as - if not better - than jwbbud.

This is so sad. The eBay era is ending.
And yes, they're doing it to themselves. I mean if everyone on here is feeling this way and not selling or buying anymore, this thread is just a small sample of a bigger population of eBayers which only indicates huge losses for them at least in the entertainment category, if not other places as well, for those of you that have stores or buy comics like was mentioned.

I have been watching a lot of blu-rays on e-bay, and I can't believe the prices these things end up going for. I would say most of the final sales end up higher than I can buy them for, either in store or at Amazon. I remember Planet Earth with a buy it now price of $119.99 + $6.00 shipping and you could buy it for like $69 at Amazon with free shipping. Who are these sellers, and even more importantly, who are the suckers paying these prices for used merchandise?

the people in this thread is a small minority. ebay is doing fine. the era isn't ending. they've still got stores when you can take you stuff and they'll sell it on ebay for you. ebay isn't done yet.

People love garage sales and swap meet venues for purchasing and mostly searching for that one unexpected treasure. People love to browse just to see whats out there, but its the searching, the hunt for Item X that makes e-bay popular.

No, I don't beleive e-bay is going anywhere. If people stop selling on e-bay in large enough numbers and go elsewhere, e-bay will lower their sellers fees to stay competative. $$$ is always the bottom line and final word.

I used to be a heavy Ebay user but it is clear that both sellers and buyers are being squeezed by Ebay and Paypal. Are there any other decent auction sites?

Hmmm...that's funny. I'm just coming off my best year on eBay. I see it differently, I guess. Ebay saved my families butt during this "so called" hard times. Been on since 1999 and still have 100% feedback.
I just don't see what all the fuss is about.
