Default Newb Blu movie collection

Hi guys I am new to Blu-ray and for that matter just got my first TV that doesn't have tube in it. After buying a Sony player and tv this week I picked up some movies. I hit the Walmart bargain bin for Rambo 1,2 and 3, Young Guns, Total Recall, and then bought Blue Planet. So far I have watched Rambo 1, Young Guns, Part of Blue Planet, and rented Hancock. Obviously The Blue Planet Blu-ray has some nice PQ, but I am also very happy the Rambo movie and Young Guns. I can't believe what a difference watching a movie in Blu makes compared to my old 27" picture tube tv from the late 90's. Also I am very impressed with how well my DVD's look using the Blu-ray player, it really gives them new life. This is good b/c I have many DVDs.

My player is the Sony BDP S350 and the TV is a Sony 40" KDL-40S4100.

Welcome! Good to hear you're impressed with blu releases such as Rambo and Young Guns. The older films must be a challenge to bring up to outstanding hi-def quality with their master source being so old. I'm looking forward to a re-release of Predator and Terminator 1&2. I hope some magic can be worked on these.

For outstanding visuals though, I recommend you check out Transformers and although I've not seen it yet on blu: Wall-E!

It just seems like yesterday when I joined Blu-ray.com. I had money, a wife, 1 dog and 2 cats.

I started with: I'll just get a Blu player and that will do. That will finish my system.

Then I thought I will also get a better receiver and that will do it.

I went ahead and spent more money on new cables, wires and that will do it.

What the heck, I'll up grade my 5 speakers and that will do it.

Why only 5 when I have one more spot for another making it 6 speakers and that will do it.

I actually have a couple areas in my ceiling where I can pop in 2 passive subs. Now I have a perfect system and that will do it.

But my little power sub is just not right. I'll upgrade to a $1,500 SVS sub. Now that will do it.

Now that I have spend thousands, I'll buy only one Blu-ray to see how it sounds on my new expensive surround sound.

Fantastic!!!

What a beautiful sight on my old rear projector. But I think maybe a new plasma would produce an evey better picture. That will do it. Now I am finished.

Maybe, I'll purchase a couple more Blus. That's all I need just a couple.

I am now at 53 Blus, over 700 DVDs that I am upgrading into Blus, my wife has left taking my dog and 2 cats. My job just called to say I was let go because I stayed home too much watching movies.

So, my warning to you is be careful be very careful that you do not catch this mysterious Blu virus that is spreading causing havic in homes across world.

I'm sorry, but I would never lose sight of my pocket just because I enjoy having more of something. Blu-rays are awesome, and I do spend a portion of my income, $100 limit a month, but I have other priorities.

Losing your family over blu-rays is just wrong...mentally in my opinion. You basically forgot what kind of an economy you are in at the moment and just went on and purchased more than it is healthy for anyone to do so.

I'm sorry for your many many many losses, but I can honestly say it was all your fault.

I think it was a joke. At least, I hope it was a joke. Think he was just pointing out to the new guy how addicting it can be for this hobby.

It is no joke when one actually catches the Blu virus. One thinks as this person thought in the above post...

But catching the Blu virus makes one's mind set change. No matter how you think, it will change. Becareful out there and don't let the Blu bug get you.

At least you have your priorities straight!

It started when my wife wanted a new TV, so I researched and decided on the Bravia. Well obviously I needed a Blu-ray player so then I bought the PS3. 47 Blu-rays later, I decided it was time to upgrade my crappy JVC surround in a box to something proper, so there goes 1500 more dollars. Now I'm about to get the two rear surrounds to complete the 7.1, then a PS3 Tooth Fairy device to control the PS3 with my Harmony remote (another add-on). I tell you, the virus has infected me badly. Thankfully it's all my wife's fault for wanting an HDTV! (Joking of course.... or am I? )

Oh and if you like tv shows Mad Men is the best show on Blu (my opinion)

Thanks for the warm welcome . I have put a few movies on my xmas list: The Dark Knight, Wall-E, The Shining, Halloween, The Descent, Black Hawk Down, Shawshank Redemption, Bladerunner, The Narnia Movies, so maybe I will have a few more movies on xmas to watch. I am also a Blockbuster online member so I can get some rentals to see if they are worth buying or not. I hope I don't come down with the Blu Virus!
