CANADA!
Default Question about replaceing the hard drive in my PS3

Im wanting to upgrade to a 1TB internal drive so I can store all my music on it as well as my exsisting games etc... wondering if anyone knows off hand if this drive will work...

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...on=L&langid=EN

And if not what 1TB drive would you all recommend?

Cheers in advance!

Too big. You need a 2.5 inch laptop drive at 5400RPMs

Actually, it does not have to run at 5400RPM. I know some people who have a hard drive that runs at 7200RPM, and it runs fine. However, I do not recommend that, as the original hard drive in the PS3 runs at 5400. The hard drive I bought runs at 5400.

I know, but I say that out of concern for someone overheating their PS3

Crummy... any idea if and when they'll be doing 2.5" 1TB internal drives?

But as of now the biggest I can get is 500 Gb?

Cheers!

what the ps3 originally had has nothing to do with it, 5400 is just cheaper

I got ya. You definitely don't want to overheat the system, that would be bad.

It might not have anything to do with it, but I don't want to recommend something with different specs than what the PS3 has. That is all.

If you want a 1TB HDD right now, you have to frankenstein your PS3. You need an external 3.5" enclosure with eSATA, and a male-to-femae/eSATA cable. Take out the internal drive, plug in the cable to the PS3/enclosure, and power up.
