Question Pioneer Receiver...Now What speakers?

Just came home from testing out some speakers at futureshop. spent about 2 hours and i have narrowed it down to these fronts/towers:

Klipsch - RF82
Polk - RTiA7
Energy - CF-50

My question is...how do these speaker companies match up with my pioneer 1018 ah-k receiver? they were all paired with a yamaha receiver in the store...will i hear a huge difference between what i heard in store and what i will hear at home?

or should i not even concern myself with trying to match a certain receiver with speakers?

any comments/help would be appreciated

They will all match up well. You might hear a slight difference, but that might be based on more the show room's acoustics and your living rooms. I doubt you will notice anything. And at this level, you shouldn't care!

My suggestion - Polk RTiA7s out of that list.

thanks for the response...if i won't hear large differences between speaker/receiver how much of a difference would the acoustics of a room make?

You'd be surprised, it's an ignored feature in a lot of home theater setups (I ignore about 85% of it, lol) - but for all practical purposes, you'll be fine. Don't worry!

If you are leaning towards the RTIA7s, I would save some money and get the RTi10s. They are last generations version of the speaker.

Good links, but we're in Canada Jason. Sorry.

As for which speakers, you're the one who spent 2 hrs. listening. Which ones did you like the best? That's really the deciding factor here. We can suggest based on which we like, but in the end it's your decision. I would probably go Polks as well, if it were up to me.

You're in Toronto - I would strongly recommend you get outside of Future Shop and listen to some other speakers.

Pop down to Dundas/Bathurst to Kromer and listen to the Paradigm Monitor 11v6's. I bet they'd match the price of the Klipsch's there. They also have 45% off all Monitor Audio speakers right now while they're in stock - check out the RS6 and see if you can get a deal on them. They also stock Morduant Short and Martin Logan - have a listen to them.

Spend some time in Bay Bloor Radio and have a listen to some Definitive Technology speakers - they have sealed listening rooms to with nice equipment set up like Arcam CD players so you can listen to what you're familiar with.

If you're mobile, drive out to TruTone Electronics on Dundas West in Mississauga - they make great deals there on Paradigm speakers.

Consider Axiom Audio - they are in Dwight, Ontario and will give you 30 days in home trial on your speakers. If you don't like them, drive up the 400 and take them back or ship them.

The M50 floorstanding towers are $889/pair.

With the wealth of dealers around you that carry better equipment than Future Shop it's well worth your while to spend some time auditioning - you may find you can get much better sound for only a handful of $'s more.

Wait till you hear your system with a good subwoofer.
Right now you're getting down to around 32-35Hz - there is plenty of information below this in both movies and music. Several scenes in The Incredibles hit 5Hz!!
