Due to the disappointing sales of Red Faction: Armageddon and its digital spin-off, Red Faction: Battlegrounds, THQ has decided to halt the series and move its developer's to other project. ![]() After the company's post-earnings conference call, which sees its first quarter result in losses, THQ CEO Brian Farrell said: "We are disappointed in our first quarter financial performance. Sales of Red Faction: Armageddon and our licensed kids titles were below our expectations." The curent audience of Red Faction is "niche," Farrell said, "Given that that title, now in two successive versions, has just found a niche, we do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way." He went on to add: "In today's hit-driven, core gaming business, even highly-polished titles with a reasonable following like Red Faction face a bar that continues to move higher and higher," he said. "Moving forward, our core game titles must meet a very high quality standard with strong creative and product differentiation, appeal to a broad audience, and be marketed aggressively," Farrell added. So what will happen to developer Volition? Farrel said that they will be helping with Guillermo del Toro's upcoming project, inSANE, which is set to begin in 2013. |

Sounds to me like theyre just unwilling to put in the development time and money to make a better game. They want to release the same old game on the same old platform and still reach the same sales numbers. Ask EA, it doesnt work that way unless you're holding an exclusive license.
