Default LA Critics: Best Picture - Wall-E

"The Los Angeles Film Critics Assn. has named Disney/Pixar's "Wall-E" the best picture of the year, marking the first time in its history that it has given its top prize to an animated film."

http://www.variety.com/awardcentral_...ryid=1983&cs=1

Could it be? Wall-E is gonna be the first animation to win the Oscar for Best Picture?

In all respect, it was the best wide release movie of the year. The first 45 minutes with no dialog at all was GOLDEN.

I don't think so. From what I hear, Slumdog Millionaire, Milk, The Wrestler, Frost/Nixon... something along those lines.

I just love the fact the critics are even flirting with the idea of giving it the nod. It's a testament to how high Pixar has elevated the game of animation and therein, a return to excellent and dramatic storytelling. May not be the definitve best picture, but it definitely deserves a nomnation.

I thought that Wall E was an outstanding, top notch film. Hearing that it is getting some love is awesome! The animation was amazing, the story touching and at the same time very funny.

This movie doesn't deserve best picture from anything. It was good but not even close to being that good.

Disney isnt really the company to expect depressing endings in, unless its a true story

[Show spoiler]Robin Williams character had stayed in Hell and lived for eternity with his wife even though she didn't know who he was. That movie has such a huge cop out at the end. I think Pixar would have benefited by trying something different.

But how can you like that more than TDK? There is not Heath Ledger as the Joker, or does he make a cameo?

It's not necessarily a depressing ending since humanity is saved.
