I've got the 50" 720p Samsung Plasma and Blu-rays look amazing. I even did some internet research and found the best video settings possible for this set. But I noticed (when I get close to the screen) that there are small blue-ish gray "dots" all over the picture. Anyone else know what these are? Is it normal for Blu-ray? Or is it something with these plasma sets? You can't really see them if you're at least 5 ft. from the TV but it still bugs me because the picture should be clear. I tweaked the "black" settings and they disappear (my black setting was 0) when the black is +1.

It could be "dead" pixels, but I rather not scare you. Someone with greater expertise in the matter will post here. But no, what you explained is not typical of any Blu-ray movie I own. I would try a couple of different movies to see if the dots that are bluish are always the same ones.

Okay, it's definitely not the TV. It's the PlayStation. The dots are only apparent on the PS3's menu screen and the films I play on it. I'll have to tweak the connections... possible that there's something loose? Dunno. I just wanted to know if anyone had the same thing going on. Maybe the "dots" are normal.. as you cannot see them if you're at normal viewing distance.

i have the same issue ... when i let it auto detect input, it comes up w my hdmi .. sets it 1080p, and i have these pixels that i know im going to see in my nightmares tonight. When i manually remove 1080p from supported displays and let it run at 1080i, the pixels go away .... my TV is supposed to support 1080p, but im wondering if it does not ... please let me know update on your issue, as im currently set in 1080i display, and i really want to view bluray in the vaunted 1080p |
