Default Blu-ray Surround Sound Help!

I've hooked everything up, my blu-ray player and Xbox 360 through my 5.1 sound system. The xbox 5.1 sound works perfectly, but the blu-ray doesn't. The sound is great, but when i click the display when the movie is playing (The Dark Knight), i tells me its using 2.1, WHAT DO I DO?

are you using HDMI or Optical? (what receiver/tv are you using?)

...if Optical, set to Bitstream.
