Default Klipsch RF-82: Quick Qs about their Speakers

$500 a pop seems to be their going price, anywhere I could get them for cheaper?

I'd rather get these than the F-2s at Best Buy.

Oh, and do these:

Mean I only need 1 surround speaker?

Save up for the refrence line, you won't be bummed on what you could have gotten if you go with the f-2, and as far as prices that's pretty much the going rate. As for the surrounds you were looking at I would get two as well.

$500 sounds just about right.

check out your regular mom n pop specialty store, and see if they can accomodate you on certain deals. you can get the older models too, they just change em up just a tad bit.

the surrounds are sold separately too.

first invest in your soundstage (Left, Right, CenteR)
then keep the chance for your surrounds.

of course, audition these guns friend.

some of their floorstanding speakers can be overkill, especially at 10x10 rooms or similar

Listen to Jomari.

Buy your rig a piece at a time and dial in the fronts first.

It takes time, but you will never need to buy speakers again.

Sounds like solid advice. Thanks, friends - probably looking at RF-82s, the matching center and sub and an Onkyo 705 in a few weeks.

To answer your question..... "NO" that doesn't imply that you only need one speaker..... but they're used for directional surrounds, so one on each side, or behind L/R. It's not one speaker to replace two rears if that's what you're asking.

Here are my surrounds, it's the same concept......

I was looking through my old threads, and found this gem - what a difference 4 months of learning/listening made! I was going to jump on all this equipment before I even gave any of it a listen.

Good lord, on another one of my threads, I was talking about going 605 with JBL speakers, again, before even listening to them! I was so young and foolish back then. Never buy before you listen, kids!

I started wondering why you said you were looking at the Klipsch speakers. I was thinking maybe it was for your bedroom or something. Then I saw the date posted.

Haha, I was doing the exact same thing. I was just reading the thread and didn't see who had posted it, and then I looked at the name and I was just like wait, why is he buying the reference line when he has B&W 6's. Then I saw this was from April haha.
