Default Universal Pictures Blu-ray software changes

I'm watching Oblivion (street date: 08/06/2013) and noticed two changes to the basic Universal BD architecture.

1) No more BD-Live, which will probably help loading times for most people.

2) No more screensaver if you pause the movie for a long time.

Did these changes take place with an earlier release? The last Universal discs that I bought were The Bourne Legacy, Fast Five, and Snow White and the Huntsman, all released a while ago.

Edit: Jowiko96 says that Les Miserables (street date: 03/22/2013) was designed like this, too.

I just looked at the back of my copy of Les Miserables and BD-Live wasn't included and I don't remember a screensaver being on the disc. Maybe that was the first one?

1. Awesome.

2. Not so awesome.

Watching a bunch of Criterion Blu-rays in a row over the past month, and then starting on the Universal Blu-rays in my Alfred Hitchcock box set immediately after has been like a culture shock of a different sort. The Universal Blu-rays take twice as long to load, and I cannot stop them and return to the same spot later on.

Let us know what you think of Oblivion. It's a derivative, but fun and cool-looking movie.

Can you now resume play if it times out and shuts off?
That's always been my main complaint with da U.

Not sure how long I would have to wait for it to time out, lol. I think Universal's still using a lot of complicated Java script even though they got rid of BD-Live.

It looks like Universal added a "Resume Movie" option, kinda like Lionsgate. A small menu appears while the disc plays trailers after you turn on the player.
