You should be able to use the analog inputs from the pc, or if you have a sound card or advanced mobo you may have optical, coaxial or hdmi audio options.

Post what motherboard you have or any attached sound card and we can give you a definitive answer.

You should still have some sort of headphone jack that you can use a stereo cable with.

Like this.

If you have HDMI out on your PC video card and an HDMI receiver like the Onkyo tx-sr606 can you output video from the PC to the TV?

Do NOT use the headphone out jack from your PC. If the volume is up too high on your laptop, you can blow your receiver.

I am listening to music from my pc through my receiver as i speak, i simply have a stereo 3.5 jack - analog cable (3.5 jack into the audio out on sound card). I also have it set to play music in any room of the house or outside for bbq area. And the receiver can distribute a 2 channel source to fill out all 5 speakers or 7.

I am not to sure about that. I use the same cable for my Ipod to my receiver, and I never have any problems with my receiver.

The absolute easiest way to listen to music from you pc on your HT system is to stream it to a ps3 or xbox360 if you have either one. Simply adjust the settings in the system setup of either console to allow media sharing, and do the same in windows.

If you don't have a console or don't use windows media player then like other people have said use the audio out of the sound card. I have found that a y-splitter from the front left and right out of the sound card to a stereo input on the receiver works good. If your sound card has optical or digital coaxial out then they will obviously be an even better solution.
