Default What's the next Blu-ray mega-mover?

The Dark Knight certainly did what I predicted... and then some. I suspect it's not done either. It will continue to move BD movies and machines out for months to come. What is the next Blu-ray mega mover movie? I don't see any.

Well one could say the Lord Of The Rings extended editions but since they've already come out, only fans will get them.

Who knows, Terminator: Salvation could hit it big and something, but I dunno mate, I guess the elements would have to be a movie with a huge following, anticipation, that hasn't been released on DVD before so assuming it hasn't come out in theaters yet.

I think that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince could be a good BD title.

Don't forget about Star Trek.

Both come out this summer, I think?

I would have to say Watchmen. This movie should do some serious business at the box office and Bd sales.

Duh, how could I have forgotten Harry Potter. Yes that one, plus the movie will probably have a BD release scheduled 6 months after theaters so that places it right before Christmas.

If I had to take a wild guess I would select Watchmen / Harry Potter...Terminator Salvation has a chance too.

Terminator Salvation for next year. Im betting though that in 2010 Transformers 2 might outsell the DVD. But a safer bet is The Hobbit in 2012.

I think that Braveheart and Gladiator could do some serious damage!

Well Gladiator was already released in a long version a few years back on 3 DVDs crammed with bonus features.

Unless they create something new for the Blu-ray, people would only be looking at an upgrade.

Yeah, I think WATCHMEN will be the next big mover, seeing as they're already working on a longer cut of WATCHMEN that inserts the TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER story back in. I think the theatrical cut will be about 2 hours and 40 minutes and the full cut may be up to 3, maybe 4 hours.

I would probably say Transformers 2. It's a movie for everyone. No matter how good a movie is, if it's not targeted for an audience ages 2-102, then it probably won't be a big bang (IMO)

On a side note, I honestly can't see any movie for the next 2 years beating TDK's record.
Of course when Blu really goes mainstream, it'll easily be broken.

Both movies are coming out in 2009 (Terminator on May 22nd and Transformers on June 26th). So a very probably late November/December release for both.

It's going to be 'Watchmen' or 'Transformers 2'

It's hard to guess exactly since both of these have yet to be released. However, I was also thinking the 'Quantum Of Solace' might move pretty good as well. But, if we are talking 'The Dark Knight' numbers, then it won't even come close to ranking.
