amazon/buy.com credit cards

i'm always looking to get what I can for as little money as possible. i never had much money growing up so it was a way to get by. I see that buy.com and amazon.com both have their own credit cards that when you sign up you get $30 off your first purchase. I have awesome credit so i'm sure I could get them both. but my question is are there any recurring charges for these cards? annual fees etc? or could I, in theory, get these cards, make a a $35 purchase on each, pay off the $5 on each and then just leave them alone? I wouldn't mind getting BBC's planet earth on blu-ray for around $40 from amazon and both terminator movies from buy.com for $5. would that work?

Are they Visa or Mastercard? If not, they will probably have astronomical rates.

If you are truly confident that you have the will power to cut them up after you use them once, than go ahead.

Just read the fine print. Some require you to make x number of purchases a year at x retailer to wave the annual fees.

''angry spender'' I like that description. I think they are visa or m.c. i'll have to look through all their b.s. legalspeak when I get home today. I have 3 cards with no balance on them sitting in my safe in case of emergency (which did happen once).

I signed up for Amazon Visa to buy BD movies and to get $30 off on the first purchase. I paid my balance with the first bill.
I got Legends of Jazz, The Fifth Element, and Italian Job for $33.

Amazon card is Visa, managed by Chase. No annual fee.
