Default George Lucas- Hack or no?

On one hand he gave us, arguably, the best trilogy ever and a vast universe of excellent characters.

On the other, he keeps ruining those stories.

Whats your opinion?

No. Better question would be "Fanboys - Whiny or no?"

And the answer is yes. I for one loved the prequels.

Maybe I retained some childlike wonder, unlike all you jaded folks.

He's like most other director's, good when he has to fight with the studio for every cent and make creative decisions, terrible when he has unlimited resources and no one "holding him back." For another example see Martin Scorcese, early work - Brilliant, later work - self-indulgent.

Now, I'll admit. I don't think that the original Star Wars movies was the best trilogy ever. It kinda went down when they brought in those Ewoks in the Return of the Jedi. The only good movie in the prequels was Episode III. That time, I think Lucas listened to his fans for a proper Star Wars movie.

I was talking about Indy.

Guys I'm not a fanboy of Lucas, Check out the other threads. It was only natural to have this one.

We know, it's just been so long since he's said something stupid, at least two months I think it might be a personal record, that we had to take this thread and run with it.

If Lucas is a hack, I'd love to be just 10% of the hack he is.

He may say and do some stupid things
but i personally liked the prequel trilogy as well as the original
episode 3 was by far the best of the series
not for mindless action and fighting (which it scores 5 out of 5 for that)
but as a good film
course...the dialogue is incredibly weak at times, as is the case for all 6 movies

people tend to forget how corny/lame/bad some of the dialogue was from the original trilogy and look at those movies through rose tinted glasses
they are great and incredibly influential on cinema til this day yes, but not the best movies ever made
