Default Dorm Room

What is the best value in laptop computer and speakers to make blu-ray and surround sound happen in the typical dorm room? Just curious as my son will go off to college soon and I am sure he will want to stay in and avoid the keg parties, ball games, etc. Not a chance in hell for that to ever happen but I do wonder what would work in a dorm room. The Gateway 16 inch screen looks like a good place to start.

Suggestions welcomed!

I'd get a Home-Theater PC, basic "tower" design etc... and then get him a cheap 32" LCD to connect to it.....

He'll be able to enjoy movies on it (16" screen is just too small) and he can watch all his normal T.V. etc. on it, yet he'll have a nice 32" monitor for the internet, homework etc....

I think you can pull all of that together for about the price of a laptop, and it'll be less likely to "walk out" of his room in the hands of someone else.

I'm not entirely up on the Home-theater-PC scene, but someone may know.....

For speakers, I'd just get 3 speakers or so.... no need for him to go all-out... if his dorm room is anything like mine was back in the day, he'll be hard-pressed to give up too much space.
