Samsung 1600 and netflix?

Hi guys, I would like to buy the samsung 1600 and on added bonus I can use it for my netflix movies. What picture quality do I expect for streaming netflix movies? thanks

Most of the time it will be like watching standard tv, they are adding more HD movies which look more like a DVD or upconverted DVD at best. Don't get me wrong I have Netflix streaming in 3 rooms and I love it. If you have young kids it is pretty much a must have. I have a 2 & a 6 year old who get to watch their shows for about 1 hour each a day. If you are a current Netflix subscriber then I would say it is a no brainer.

Thanks for the info. Besides streaming from netflix I can get the blu ray movies from them.

The faster your DSL or Cable speed,... the better quality you get. It also helps (at the slower speeds) if you don't use the Internet connection when streaming movies. If you have enough bandwidth,.. this is not a problem.

In order to get HD,... the movie streaming must be offered in HD. Otherwise it is very much like an up converted DVD.

The internet speed is 11.0 mbps, Is this sufficient for better picture quality? Also, not sure how bandwidth measurement goes, how do I know?

A minimum of 3.0 mbps will get you HD quality pic,.... but first the movie must be OFFERED by Netflix in HD.

Most are just DVD's,... so the are basically an up convert. Not bad for a video stream actually. Quite watchable,.. though not really Blu-Ray quality. Time should improve the pic as technology improves.

I may be spoiled by Blu-ray and HD from Direct TV, but I am not interested in streaming movies that are just "watchable".

Dvd quality would be okay until the blu ray discs arrive.
One more thing, I can't quite understand the meaning of BD live. It's seems like a big deal, can you explain? Thanks

If up scaled DVD quality is not good enough for you,.. then do not stream movies over the net from ANY source.

These are better than standard DVD quality,... at least equal to up scaled DVD quality,... sometimes better depending on ISP speed and equipment.

BD Live is content related to the movie. It plays in a little pop-up box while the movie plays,... it can have seperate audio,... and you can access it via remote control while the movie plays.

IMO it is useless.

I don't care what the director or anyone else (actors included) have to say about the "artistic implications" of the movie,... or their "acting experience",... or what the director "intended". I want to watch the movie in as high a picture quality as possible,... and with as high a sound quality as possible. Anything else can be put on another disc or in a separate "clip" for those that are interested in them.

I want to watch the movie,... not someones off screen interpretation of it.

I watch lots and lots of movies, so netflix is great for me and I can cancel my movie channels and of course blu ray are always in the mail.
Well, looks like BD function will not work for me either. I just want to watch movie without interaction or interruption, at least I know it's there when I need it.
