Questionable Home Theatre Pictures - Blu-ray Forum

I know I will catch some flak for this but I have to ask..

I look over the HT gallery that has been nicely added to the site. There are some very nice, clean, well done setups. Then there are some "questionable" setups which makes me curious.

Wouldn't paint, cleaning, proper window treatments come before 4 flat panel tv's, expensive audio equipment and multiple gaming consoles? OR am I totally way of base here?

I know if I took pictures of my place of residence, it would look nice. Even if there were no pictures to be shared, it would look nice, clean and what's another word for respectable? Maintained? This is not a negative towards anyone. I am just curious where some people's priorities lie? Is it really more important to have that 50" lcd, than a nice coat of paint and a throw rug?

Anyone else notice this stuff or am I the only one?

Again, there are some AMAZING setups pictures. I am not a fan of the 20k+ setups. I am a fan of the people that have clean, simple setups as well as clean residences. Priorities in the right place.

Then again, I guess if your happy with how you live - who am I to say anything.

Oh, geez, Drinky, I agree with you. There are some setups here that have a decent amount of money in them, and the place looks like a pigsty. Disgusting!

Correct. I don't get that. All that money in AV/Tech and the place that houses it is 2 steps away from not so good.

yes, why not clean up a bit before snapping the pix??

Sigh, in all respect some people have different priorities. Just because they don't have the best kept house in some people's opinion doesn't make them worthy of mockery or ridicule. Think of the people who think we are Retarded for even owning a tv bigger than 32 inches or spending the money we do on blu. I know that some people have a hard time cleaning house (I know I do, I loathe it) or really don't care if they paint their house every 2.5 years etc... It's all about THEIR priorities. Not anyone elses. The only time I would go smack down on someone is if their spending the food money or baby money on stuff like that. As long as they're taking care of their family and happy the way they are who are we to ridicule.

I agree, I always try and tidy up before taking pictures. You wouldn't try and sell your car after a snowstorm without washing the salt off right? Same thing should apply to you there, just doesn't display your best foot forward

Were not talking about "best kept house". I am talking about a baseline standard of living. The point of the HT gallery is to show off your wonderful setups is it not? Why even bother to show it off if we can't look past the not so clean home it lives in.

Clean, presentable house comes before anything else. It trumps electronics. Period. Granted we all have a room in the house or an area that gets trashed regularly, but most of us clean up weekly/daily or whatever the schedule may be. However, to post pictures and expect no criticism is unlikely. Sorry, but if you are that upset about it - you should not have taken the pictures in the first place.
