New setup, Qustions on Listening modes SR706

Well i got my father a new receiver after xmas. Just wondering on the listening modes and what people are using for watching blu ray movies. I havn't had alot of luck finding any 7.1 chanel movies at blockbuster. Any advice on some good action movies to watch with the new setup?
What are the best listening modes for action movies? If a movie is 5.1 truHD or whatnot, can the reciever change it to 7.1? If so, what modes?

Setup is as follows
TV: Toshiba Regza 52" LCD
Blu-Ray/HDDVD Player: Samsung BD-UP5000
Receiver: TS-SR706
Speakers: Front: Infinity Primus P362
Center: JBL N-CENTER
Sur. and Rear sur: JBL N24's
SUB : JBL 12"

what blu-ray player are you using?

i don't use listening modes really. don't get fixated on 7.1 either.

movies like ironman and transformers i really enjoyed the audio. check out the blu-ray reviews on this site to find good titles.

If you don't use listening modes, are you saying you just listen to it as direct or PURE audio?
Blu-Ray player is a samsung BD-UP5000
It plays HDDVD and Blu-Ray

Anyone? I know i am not the only one here with a 706

I have the 706. Just got it for christmas. I agree with what has been said though. I don't use the listening modes unless I am matrixing 5.1 to 7.1. Like normal dolby digital to dolby digital ex. I use pure audio or direct if I am listining to lossless audio like dts master or dolby true hd. And multichannel when playing games on the ps3. I haven't experimented with the thx listening modes, so I don't have an opinion on them.

All I can really say is just experiment and find out what you like. If it sounds good and makes you happy go with it.
