Default Please Help! PS3 Internet Problem!

Hi. This isn't the first time my PS3's internet connection randomly failed, but this time i could not re-establish my connection. I'm doing this wirelessly and the problem is that it cannot locate my IP Address. My router is working perfectly fine. I was online today and the only different thing after that was that my sister used her new DDR with a wireless mat (which scans for a connection).

I have this strange feeling that her DDR did this to my beloved PS3... I'm hoping time will just solve this problem, but is there anything i can do to speed this up?

Have you tried resetting you're router and/or broadband modem? What kind of router are you using? What is the DDR mat connected to, a Wii, 360, PS3? If it was to a PS3 there should be no interference problems.

No, i haven't tried resetting the router yet (i didn't think i had to since all my other internet connections work). It is a Linksys 2.4GHz. The DDR mat was connected to the PS3.

When i go through the process, it tries to connect but then keeps on saying "exchanging key information", but that just times out and the connection does not happen.

go to lynksys.com and find the model number of your router. Look for firmware updates for it and follow the instructions for updating it. Mine was very flakey about dropping my connection to PSN. After the update of that, it has been 100% reliable.

Hmmm i'll give that a try. It's kinda funny; i'm already on that site on the forum since MANY others have had this problem... there's many suggestions but there's one that says "reset factory settings". This apparently works the best, but i'm guessing updating my router rather than resetting is better.

Ya I'd update it. The 's' is prolly for wireless, same model though. Just do the thing where you open the internet and login to the router to update it. BTW while you are in there you should change the password to login to it. Don't leave it as admin or adminadmin.

try http:// 192.168.1.1 minus the space and if your network isn't secured type in "admin" on both fields.

yes save the file from lynksys on your computer. When you get into the router from the web it will have an option to update it under advanced I think. It asks for a file and then you point it to the file you saved on your computer from the lynksys site. Should be a .BIN file I think.

I found the upgrade option, but when i attach the file to be upgraded it just fails.
This is what the file looks like (and it's in My Documents): WRT54G-v8_8.00.5.002_fw

Isn't it if you don't specify the User you can leave that blank and type admin in the password field and it let's you in?

It's probably not the right firmware for your model. In version 4 and later, Linksys severely limited the file size of the firmware updates that could be used in order to prevent people from using open source firmware like DD-WRT.

The file has the same # on my model though... what do you suggest as an alternative then if this isn't working?
