Default subwoofer advice

I just purchased 2 POLK 50s, a CS1 and 4 POLK 30s for my home theater upgrade. I've got the Panny bd35 and a Pioneer 1018 receiver. I've been reading a lot of the information in the subwoofer forum and thought I'd make a thread to get some advice from anyone who has a similar set up. I mainly watch movies on the system and would like to stay around $300. From the other threads I've seen the ED will be the suggested many times. Seems like there are a ton of different manufactures and I'm not a "speaker guy" so a lot of the technical information doesn't help me know if one is "better" than the other. I just want a good quality sub that will compliment my setup. I'm not looking to shake the house apart or wake up the baby but I'm not opposed to it on occasion . Thanks.

well the Sony STR-DG820 and upwards have this "night mode" feature which as the name implies allows u to watch movies at night without waking up the neighbours on in this case the baby, but u cant be 100% sure of that lol, the A2-300 sub is what am getting anyway!

If I were in your situation, I would try to swing about 75 bucks more (you can talk them down) for a budget and go with this HSU:

I'm no expert, but personally I've been reading up on the Cadence 12" sub that Big Daddy mentioned. A lot of folks on AVS and other forums seem to really like it for the price, and you can get it for $299 shipped. The eD sub will probably outperform it, but if you're like me you have other considerations (WAF factor, size constraints) to take into consideration.

I'm either going with the Cadence or the HSU VTF-1 or STF-2. I would recommend you take a close look at those as well as that eD if the situation is right for you.
