I love checking the gallery and looking at some of the amazing home theaters some of you have. You can see the hard work that went into making them and just how much fun it must be to watch movies on them.
I would like to ask a question however. I see many who have custom made enclosure for their equipment and speakers. It look's truly amazing and make's everything look so clean but I am wondering about something. What happen when you change TV or equipment or even worst speakers? How hard is it to find new equipment that will fit in the enclosures you made? Does it mean you need to make changes on your walls once again? |

I wondered this same question myself. It seems with HDTV and surround sounds, once they are placed they are placed.
It's not like back in the ole' days if someone wanted to change a room around. With all the in-wall wiring and as you asked with the "custom made enclosure for their equipment and speakers", I think it's gonna be one hella of a job. And we thought back in the day moving funiture around was a hassle!!!! |

My parents have a custom made HT cabinet, what they had done was to make the parts(doors & boarders) removable so that if my dad has to get rid of his 60" SXRD for a new TV or he can just "POP OFF" the boarder and he has 3" clearance all around. Or he can take off the doors at the bottom and remove his Sony receiver, bluray player, or some switcher he has for powering zones and adding zones?? (don't quite understand that switcher personally) and replace it. plus he can remove 4 screws and take the entire bottom face off so he can play with cables if he has too. It is very much the neatest thing. Needless to say, there will be little to no rearrangement of the room.
