My parents are leaning towards getting a Blu-ray player (most likely a Samsung for the Netflix abilities) after seeing my PS3 in action. Problem is, their projector has neither HDMI nor DVI. I was wondering if an HDMI-to-DVI cable (like this) from the player or receiver connected to an Apple DVI-to-VGA adapter would still pass a 720p/1080i signal. And although this isn't as big a deal, if it does pass HD, would they still be able to watch upconverted DVDs or would it lose HDCP capability?
