Default Is there a gadget that plays downloaded movies on my TV?

Ok here's my little problem.

I want to get a second HDTV for my bedroom.

I have my PS3 connected to my TV in the living room, and i transfer downloaded TV shows from my PC to PS3.

I don't want to buy a second PS3 just to be able to connect it to my second HDTV and play movies and tv shows from there...

Is there like a gadget, maybe a little hard drive that i can connect via HDMI to an HDTV so i can access the device and play movies from it?

THX!

Do you have a laptop? You can do video out with one, otherwise you might have to look for a digital media receiver such as the ps3, or appletv.

How much is apple TV? And what does it do exactly? If it works with iTunes there's no way i want that crap..

But yeah, laptop might be an answer....

What kind of laptop do i need? Do i need a powerfull one with a good graphic card? If i want to run some HD stuff... like 480p or 720p... ?

Think of Apple TV as a dedicated iPod for your TV. It'll play anything in iTunes, including audio, HD video, photos and much, much more.

Forget about the AppleTV (unless your just an Apple fanatic) its very limited on what it can playback.

I'd suggest:

Western Digital WD TV HD

OR
Popcorn Hour A-110

ive got a solution buy a cheap HDMI cable and any kettle plug if you have one at home already good ether way replace the fuse i m not sure to what im not in the US but im sure someone will tell you.

So basically you have a plug and an HDMI cable upstairs just unplug your PS3 down stairs and take it up stairs when you need it.

If that sucks you have every right to call me stupid lol

There are such gadgets like this WD TV HD Media Player.
They are basically an external HDD enclosure with a simple OS.

How about a "VCR Rabbit"? 1980's tech at it's best. I think it "broadcast" the signal through the house on an (locally) unused TV channel -- in full analog SD with magnificent monaural sound!

If you have a PS3 then you can use TVERSITY from your home computer. I do that and everything is upconverted to 1080p. It works really well.

Are you talking ILLEGAL download rips of movies? If so, then I must be the voice of ethics and state that no object SHOULD exist to allow for this kind of activity.

Forgive me. As someone who wishes to make a career in the film/television industry, I cannot condone these actions.

DivX? Just burn a few to a DVD and stick in the PS3, which might not play all of them, but that's why I have a Philips DVD/DivX player that will play all of them.

Yes, since i live in Quebec, i don't get cool shows like Dexter, Entourage, etc...

So i always download them from my pc, transfer them to mp4, then put them on PS3 via my PSP.
